PerlQt fast programming gets even faster for beginners

Recommended SoftwareLinuxGuru writes "PerlQt is a very easy to use programming tool that is powerful enough for advanced developers and now it super easy for beginners as well.

Radados developers have created a PerlQt project manager that makes it very easy to learn the starting steps of computer programming by reducing the complex steps of project creation to a few simple buttons. This tool does not teach anyone how to program in Perl or C++ with Qt but it does enable users to explore their possibilities with out feeling intimidated by the complexities that PerlQt is handling for them automatically in the background.

Radados users can install it using synaptic search for the package name radados-perlqt. PerlQt can be made available for other Linux system and for Windows(cygwin) but the Radados install is the easiest way to get up and going in a mater of seconds. Radados users will have a new PerlQt icon on their ViceWM desktop or can start the project manager by running PerlQt.pl.

 Top marks for KDE 3.4

Recommended SoftwareLinuxGuru writes " The newest release of KDE goes above and beyond my expectations. Applications run faster and there is a lot of new features that make it very impressive. Beyond what you may read from the list of new features there are countless little improvements that make it have the feel of a project well done with lots of polish and attention to details.

I have never used a Mac computer but KDE 3.4 blows the doors off any desktop.

KDE 3.4 is truly something to be excited about.

 Knoppix 3.8 with unionfs

Recommended SoftwareLinuxGuru writes "We love Knoppix! Well it just got a whole lot better. Knoppix 3.8 will have unionfs. What is that you may ask? It means you can make changes to the files on the CD while you are running Knoppix. You could even upgrade KDE or install a game. The changes don't get saved to CD but to some other writeable media and unionfs makes it look like the changes are happening to the CD.

From the unionfs web site.
A Stackable Unification File System
This project builds a stackable unification file system, which can appear to merge the contents of several directories (branches), while keeping their physical content separate. Unionfs is useful for unified source tree management, merged contents of split CD-ROM, merged separate software package directories, data grids, and more. "

 FLOSS-CD BitTorrent server back online

Recommended SoftwareLinuxGuru writes "In the last few weeks the BitTorrent server has been very busy helping people to download the ISO file. I seems that it was too much for the old 486 DX2. Yes it is true the BitTorrent server was running on a 486 DX2 66 MHz with 32MB RAM and a 2 GB HDD. It was running Debian OS and serving HTML with Apache.

The FLOSS-CD is now being served from a Pentium 90 MHz. More then enough power for Linux OS.
Visit the FLOSS-CD homepage or get the ISO using BitTorrent here
There is a support forum for the FLOSS-CD here

Thanks to the UofL for the mirror http://www.cs.uleth.ca/~floss/
